Finishing the class

After this class is over, I do plan on giving my blog a facelift. I will be changing the template to see if I can get the blog to have a better appearance. I want to do some experimenting with blogs to see what I can do, and if I can attract others to my blog.

Wikis

I like how that one site had the pros and cons listed for having a wiki. This should always be considered before starting a wiki site. Also I found sites that have not been added to since, 2006. This information is old and the site is no longer being maintained.

A wiki site takes time to be able to take care of. If you ignore the site you can end up with a lot of links to sites that are trying to sell items. Do you want your wiki site to be an advertisment drop point? At least once everyday the site would have to be checked for changes, add on, and what it is all about.

Could be useful in information about your community so people can post an event that is going to be happening.

Tagging & Social Bookmarking

Del.icio.us could be real helpful if you travel, and do not have your own computer traveling along. It could also be handy for those how have important bookmarks, and if the hard drive crashes the bookmarks will be safe at del.icio.us.

I did do several searches on the website, I notice that it is slow bringing me information about my search. Maybe if this takes off they will start charging a fee, and invest in faster servers and bandwidth.

You Tube and others

Lots of advantages and disadvantages. I love to look at the different you tube little movies. Some are really funny, others well you know not worth looking at.

Again you have to be careful on which ones you decide to look at. some are funny others are lets just say bad taste.

This is one of my favorites. It is not on You Tube anymore, but I think it is one of the best tech support movie. This is a must see.

Podcasts

Podcast is a hugh subject. So many things have been put into podcasts, anywhere from books, movies, tv series, and much more. I believe that podcasts have a hugh future ahead. It is a great way for someone to listen to a book if they are blind, driving a car, doing housework, or many different things.

Podcast can also be used for advertising your library, showing special events that you will be having, and maybe someday storytime with podcast so the children that could not attend could enjoy a good story.

Podcast could be used for training different subjects also. Podcast has so many different advantages it is hard to name them all. You could have a class just covering podcast.

Even MSNBC now podcast news.

Discovery

That is an interesting search bar. A lot of times I like to look for technical reviews on products to see if any known issues. This could give me a lot of fast information instead of google the information and have to search 1000,s of pages that do not even relate to what I am looking for.

I can see a real time saving with this search bar and have bookmarked and setup as one of my home tabs. I recommand anyone how does any kind of searches take the time and bookmark this handy tool.
